With the relaunch of the Windows Live Skydrive the question everyone will ask would be what is different? Here is the answer to that question:
- It’s Faster: Common tasks and scenarios like selecting folders and navigating photo albums go from six to nine seconds down to 100-300 milliseconds. SkyDrive takes advantage of hardware-accelerated graphics and advancements like HTML5 video tags that support playback of H.264 videos (with support for files up to 100 MB). And with Windows® Internet Explorer® 9 (IE9) on Windows® 7, end users can pin SkyDrive to their taskbar for even faster access to the files they want.
- It's Easier to Navigate: SkyDrive brings together all of the end user’s photos, documents, group files, and shared files into one view. SkyDrive incorporates navigational elements and a layout that is consistent with Windows Live™ Hotmail, and navigation is more intuitive as end users will recognize the common file system from Windows® and Mac operating systems. Lastly, ads are removed to create room for a pane of information about an end user’s files.
- Photos are More Beautiful: The new SkyDrive moves the chrome out of the way to let end user's photos fill the browser. SkyDrive adds tasteful animation using CSS3 Transitions, a new standard that brings photos to life and presents them in their original aspect ratio, and, with the new best-fit grid, pictures are laid out so an end user can see them all—even panoramas. There are no longer pages in the photo viewing experience; end users can just scroll the page and quickly see photos fill in. SkyDrive looks and feels like a native application.
